On Top of Ajax Mountain

MY SWEATER: Tory Sport  //  MY JACKET: Marmot  //  MY BOOTS:  Sorel  // SUNGLASSES: Ray-Ban //  DECLAN’S JACKET: J. Crew (sold out)

One afternoon we decided to take the gondola up to the top of Ajax mountain with the kids.  Declan asked me what a gondola was and I had a hard time explaining it.  Finally I decided on: “It’s like a floating elevator that takes you up to the top of the mountain.”  He thought that sounded pretty cool, especially when I told him he could get hot chocolate at the top.  The ride up was a lot of fun as we could look out the windows at all the skiers below, which Declan thought was pretty great.  Right as we got off the gondola the sun broke through the clouds and we had the most amazing views and light.

Little boy on top of the world.

Thinking very deep thoughts, like “Where is my hot chocolate?” and “How long until we can get back in the mountain sky elevator.”  (Not as into apres ski as mom and dad at this stage.)

Trying to get a mother-daughter shot with my friend and her baby girl and Declan was feeling left out.   Commence PHOTO BOMB ATTACK.  This is one of my favorite pics of the whole trip though!  He’s such a ham.

Family shot!  Kids were super psyched to be taking more pictures at this point.

Arabella missed her afternoon nap to partake in the gondola fun so was super sleepy on the ride back down the mountain.  I love it when she’s all calm and cuddly (it definitely does not always go that way when she’s tired).  When she’s in the right mood though she gives the BEST snuggles when she is sleepy.  If you were following my Instagram stories while we were away you saw a few posts of her taking her nap literally on me.  I truly can’t think of a more enjoyable way to spend 2 hours.  It’s one of those things I treasure all the more because I know it won’t last forever, and I’m just grateful it’s lasted as long as it has!
