New Year’s Day in Newport Beach this year was not exactly a warm beach day, but we didn’t let that stop us. It was so sunny and pretty out we headed to the beach for a little visit just to take a walk and breath in the sea air and beautiful views that I miss so much when I’m in NYC. Arabella had only started walking a little over a week earlier, and it was so cute to see her toddling about on the sand.
I’m a big fan of backlit photos (ie. shooting a subject with the light source behind them), especially when I shoot in black and white. I think it gives them such a dreamy quality. You just have to make sure your camera settings are set to the proper exposure for the subject and not the background light, or else the person will show up way too dark. I set the settings here and then gave my camera to my mom to take the pics of me and Bella (thanks mom!).
His windswept hair looked so beautiful in the late afternoon sunlight.
I love my sweet happy boy so much!
Declan got excited when he saw the number 3 on this lifeguard tower (he’s big on his own age at the moment) so we had to climb up to get a picture.
Arabella doesn’t like to be left out of anything, so she started screaming until I brought her up there with us too haha. She is not shy to express her opinions . . . ever.
The pic above is a little blurry but I love Declan’s face in it. 🙂
The wind made Bella extra snuggly, and I just loved getting these sweet hugs. While we were there we looked out at the water and saw a pod of dolphins swimming and playing pretty close to shore. Declan was so excited! Bella didn’t really know what was going on but she was just excited that we were all excited. 🙂 Taking in the sunset and snuggling together with my babies – the perfect start to 2017. I hope you all had a wonderful New Year’s Day too!
